About The Urban Music Festival

Our Story - Twelve Years and Getting Stronger

The Urban Music Festival 2017 (UMF) celebrates its twelfth year on Friday & Saturday, March 31st & April 1st. This year's festival will once again be a fun-filled weekend full of great entertainment and community participation.

The UMF is a landmark event and a testament to the devotion of all involved, from festival attendees to all the volunteers. On behalf of the UMF we would like to say thanks and to humbly request your continued support.

The UMF proudly plays a significant role in its local community as a part of the Austin Quality of Life Initiative. The UMF is focused on breaking new boundaries each year and will continue to do so as it aims to reach the hearts and minds of Urban music lovers where ever they may be, all are welcomed to join in the fun!

Allowed & Prohibited Items?

Guests and their belongings are subject to search upon entry or re-entry. You can help keep the lines moving quickly by leaving large bags at home and going through the "No Bag" line at the entrance if you are not bringing a bag with you into the park. If you are bringing a bag in, you'll be searched in the other lines. Respective signage will be at the entrance to help know which line to go through.

Cameras - only nonprofessional photos and video cameras will be allowed, and must be without equipment attachments such as selfie sticks, tripods, and monopods

Empty CamelBak water bottles and hydration packs, and plastic or aluminum water bottles
Portable/collapsible chair (Individual seat only; no double wide or connecting chairs)
Umbrella (Hand-held ONLY and no bigger than 42 in. when open)
Water - you may bring two factory sealed bottles of water.
Portable cell phone chargers
Note: Items that are deemed to be unsafe, inappropriate, or are being used for purposes other than intended may be confiscated on site

Prohibited*
Aerosol containers, including sunscreen and personal beauty products
Any and all professional audio recording equipment
Professional cameras (SLR, DSLR) and professional recording (photo, video, audio) equipment (NO large professional detachable zoom lenses, stands, monopods, tripods, attachment sticks (selfie sticks ok) or other commercial equipment.
Any and all professional video equipment. No video recording will be allowed
Drones or any other remote flying device
Coolers of any kind. (Exceptions may be made for medical use)
Framed backpacks
Hammocks
Glass containers of any kind
Illegal and Illicit substances of any kind
Non-collapsible chairs
Outside food or beverage (including alcohol) of any kind, except 2 factory sealed bottles of water (up to 1 liter each)
Pets (except service animals)
Professional radios or walkie-talkies
Skateboards, scooters, bicycles, wagons, carts or any personal motorized vehicles
Smoking is not allowed in all Austin parks, including Auditorium Shores (E-Cigarettes are allowed)
Tents, canopies, or shade structures of any kind
Unauthorized/unlicensed vendors are not allowed. No unauthorized solicitation and materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, give-aways, samples, etc.
Weapons or explosives of any kind
Fireworks
Large chains or spiked jewelry
Bicycles inside festival grounds (free parking is available near festival entrance)
Carts of any kind (including Red Wagons)

What time will the gates open?

Friday April 1 gates open at 3:00pm and night's events end at 10:30pm.

Saturday April 2 gates open at 11:30am and night's events end at 10:30pm.

Exit & Re-Entry

All passholders are allowed to enter and exit the festival as needed up to 3 times per day. You must be scanned upon exit at the gate in order to re-enter that same day. Passholders and their belongings will be searched upon entry and every re-entry to the park.
